they have spoke about hiring on more writers from a variety of backgrounds (to break the "white male" stigma some in the fanbase rage against). The new head of White Wolf has been noted saying he is looking to be edgy and controversial. Of the old Vampire books I have I haven't ran into any with a huge political slant at all really (all the clanbooks as well as a couple core editions of VtM). If you're talking about Old World of Darkness and in regards to the Werewolf the Apocalypse line (often times quoted as Furry Captain Planet) it was really much more neutral. Originally posted by Zeetarb:I can't figure out if games used to be more apolitical in the past I just didn't notice it or they were much subtler. Hopfully WW realizes you don't need to be political or "current" to be edgy, dark and relevant. I personally won't support any products he is involved with and hope WW works with more mature individuals. This includes one of the writers for Onyx Path, not a writer I'm aprticularly a fan of, to the point one of his followers made threats towards the OP writers children (releasing pictures of where they attended school).Ĭheck out the OP forums for details straight from one of the many writers that are harassed by Mr. He even encouraged his "fans" to harass people. I would also point out that the writer of the vampire portion is a man who is known to harass writers in the same field (RPG writing). Now, since I'd really only get it for the VtM portion, I feel like it is a ripoff since you're paying $10 for the half of it you want. I was pondering getting it, but felt like $10 for a pair of text-based phone stories was kind of a rip off. Originally posted by TouchOfOblivion:Thanks for the heads up. the mage portion is trash, the political leanings of the writer are all over it. If VTMB was your thing and you need that visual aspect of games and need to be fully apart of action, do not get it! I'll gladly give a few bucks to White Wolf just to let Paradox know the fans are there and people still want the stories and games from this IP.īut dont get it then regret it. I took a chance and was pleasantly suprised. If you think word based games are boring just stay away.
I loved reading the guides and the small stories throughout them being an old storyteller for the table top game. The vampire portion is well done so far for me. It's just something small to earn some money, test out the story telling aspects and see how loyal the fans are. But do not get it thinking its a sequel of VTMB. It will have a good story and something to naw on for vampire lore lovers. It is a story text based game! Much like a visual novel but with a cell phone, pics and walls of text.
